Are there any risks when having a rhinoplasty?

Answer

In relation to surgery in general, the risks tend to be described as general and specific to each operation.

The main risks that have been reported in association with rhinoplasty surgery include:

  • the anaesthetic
  • bleeding
  • infection
  • deep vein thrombosis
  • residual deviation or other aesthetic concerns
  • slight asymmetry
  • discomfort or pain
  • reduced sensation in the nasal tip skin
  • nasal airway obstruction
  • septal perforation
