I have recently had a consultation and have been informed I need open rhinoplasty.
How much scarring will I get and how is the nose re-stuck down, stitched or glued?
Typically, the open tip rhinoplasty incision is closed using sutures rather than tissue glue. The incision is placed typically in the narrower part of the columella, which is the fleshy bridge between the nostrils.
The columella scar will always be slightly visible on careful inspection, but is typically not noticeable at conversational distance, making it socially acceptable.
