Question

Hi, is there an optimum age for nasal surgery? My soon to be 18 year old daughter has asked for this for her birthday. She has an unsymmetrical nose.

Answer

I usually consider doing the rhinoplasty surgery after the age of 18, as the facial development is also almost complete.

I presume by asymmetrical nose you are primarily referring to a degree of deviation, which can be corrected. Overall, symmetry of the two halves of our body is never perfect, but when the degree of asymmetry is mild it becomes more difficult to notice and therefore less relevant.

In a situation like this, that may be scope to use both standard photography and 3-D simulation for a better appreciation of the nasal contours as well as the facial context.

You will be a will to see some more details regarding this on the website under 3-D imaging.
