Question

Do patient that has nose tip surgery (narrowing of the nostrils and tip) has to go under total anaesthesia?

Answer

Alar base reduction surgery (narrowing the nostril base) can easily be carried out under a local anaesthetic.

Adjustment in neck contour of the nasal tip however, are more complex and the rarely suitable for local anaesthesia, although sedation combined with local anaesthetic can be considered.

Ultimately, the best approach is to have a consultation and analyse the characteristics of the change that you would like to achieve, using computer imaging and simulation, and then to define the surgical options.
