I am considering a rhinoplasty, however I am unsure about how to find the right surgeon and also unsure about whether my heritage (half afro Caribbean) will effect surgery and results.
Internet searches, word of mouth information, Internet forums, and several consultations with different surgeons are probably the most common ways to prepare for the surgery and identify a surgeon that you feel comfortable with.
With regards to the ethnic background, the implications are related to the characteristics of the skin, soft tissue nasal support and correlation with your desired end result. As a rule, achieving more significant definition in the context of ethnic rhinoplasty poses some challenges, and the surgical plan also needs to be individualised to the facial characteristics of each patient.
I tend to use computer imaging and simulation in 2-D and 3-D to try and identify your aspirations regarding the end result and can provide more targeted guidance regarding treatment options and feasibility based on these points and the correlation with the starting characteristics of the nose.
