Question

I am 18 years old, I am black and I am interested in having upper and lower eyelid surgery, a nose job and a chemical peel on my face to improve pigmentation.

I have inherited bags under my eyes which make me look really tired all time and I would like to have a more defined nose.

Is there increased risks because I have black skin and also because I am young?

Do you know roughly the range of how much the treatments will cost excluding the chemical peel. do you think I am too young to have eyelid surgery and is there any other permanent alternatives?

Answer

The problems that you describe around the eyes are more likely related to the size of the eye socket and position of the globe.

It is quite likely the volume augmentation around the cheek would improve the appearance without having to resort to a lower eyelid blepharoplasty.

It is possible to evaluate these elements using 3-D imaging and simulation, which can be also used for evaluation of the nose reshaping.

I would suggest that if you attend for consultation you should be accompanied by one of your parents, so that you can discuss with them in more detail afterwards.

In terms of the chemical peel, in darker skin types it is important to prepare the skin as well as to use post-peel treatments that reduce the chance of a reactive hyperpigmentation.
