Chemical peelDuring the procedure
Chemical peels takes 10 to 30 minutes depending on the type and does not require anaesthesia or a hospital stay.
AHA peel
In the case of an AHA peel, the skin may sting and feel somewhat irritated and red. These symptoms subside quickly and usually return to work is within 24 hours.
TCA peel
For the TCA peel, application of local anaesthetic for 30 to 45 minutes prior to treatment can help make the procedure more comfortable.
The intervention involves several applications of the TCA, and is also helped by cooling the skin in between the applications, to reduce the sensation of stinging or burning in the skin.
At the end of the treatment, you will be provided with medication for the recovery period as well as structured advice regarding the management.
