Question

I had Medpor mid-face implants placed 6 months ago but would like to get them removed as they were not placed symmetrically. At the same time, I would like to get them replaced with silicone cheek/combined submalar implants if possible.

Do you have any experience with Medpor implant removal, and if so, how much will the removal and cheek implant revision procedure cost?

Additionally, I'm looking at getting a square chin implant together with a premaxillary implant. Do you perform either of these procedures and how much do they cost if done under general anaesthesia?

Answer

I have experience with removal and replacement of Medpor implants. However, I choose not to use silicone implants in the face in relation to the bone resorption that sometimes follows facial silicone implants.

A degree of asymmetry is intrinsic to the facial structures and is transmitted through the implant positioning. It is however possible to contour the implants in order to diminish the visibility of such asymmetry. This can be evaluated and targeted better using 3-D imaging and simulation.

With regards to the pre-maxilla implants careful analysis is very important because they can produce nice or very artificial results if the indication is inadequate.

In terms of costs, I would need to see you in consultation to have a proper evaluation of the treatment targets and elaborate on the treatment elements.
